Smoothies, frozen drinks and big salads are all I am eating this time of year! I tried turning on the oven and making some cookies last week and while the cookies were delicious my house never cooled back down. Big mistake. So now I’ve turned my sights towards cool and refreshing recipes until further notice. That’s where this super easy, make and freeze ahead watermelon banana smoothie comes in! Perfect for a quick breakfast or snack on the go!

Big, juicy watermelons are in their prime in these hot, humid summer days! This small personal watermelon I picked up was so juicy and sweet! It’s like nature’s candy. And best of all, watermelons pack a lot of flavor with just a few calories.
I am a big advocate of eating produce while it’s in season, not only for flavor (obvi) but it also saves money! And now is THE time to get your watermelon on. I never thought to use watermelon in a smoothie and now that I’ve tried it, I’m not going back! Watermelon freezes really well and adds just the right amount of sweetness for those summer smoothies.
Dice up some watermelon and banana and put into a jar for a quick make-ahead smoothie! Freeze all the ingredients together then just blend up with some almond milk, or other milk/water, and you’ve got a quick, easy, healthy meal or snack. I added some chia seeds for a little protein and I love that they thicken the smoothie up a little. I love super thick smoothies! It’s like eating ice cream to me, haha. If you like a smoother smoothie then just add a tad extra liquid when you blend.
