Or a can of vegetables. The vegetables were easy to replace. The can of creamed soup, not so much. But after a little testing in the kitchen, I found an easy substitute that you can whip up in no time!

While I typically don’t like to think of the holidays as a time to cut back on calories (hi butter!) I don’t want to sacrifice quality ingredients to create those favorite holiday recipes. Enter this quick and easy recipe for Cream of Chicken Soup Substitute! It only takes a few ingredients that you probably already have in in your kitchen!
Cream of Chicken Soup Substitute
Makes the equivalent of one can (10.5 oz) of Cream of Chicken Soup
Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup of chicken broth
- 1/2 cup of whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder
Directions:
- Whisk broth with the flour and spices until smooth in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in milk and mix together.
- Slowly whisk in flour mixture. Keep stirring to prevent lumps. Let sauce come to a slow bubble and thicken, about 2-3 minutes.
- Use in place of can of cream of chicken soup in casserole recipes!
