My Go-To Morning Smoothie with Antioxidants and Collagen
I’ve been a smoothie for breakfast person for years now. I go through different phases on flavors and combinations based on what my body is needing. I used to put coffee beans straight into my smoothies and loved the flavor and fiber they added! Plus, I am someone who just loves the taste of coffee so I really liked that too.
Once I became pregnant, my body was craving different things. I didn’t want the extra boost of caffeine anymore but I did want more nutrition. That’s when I modified my smoothie to add in probiotic yogurt and collagen peptides. I knew that adding these two things would provide my body and my baby with lots of vitamins, proteins, minerals and other good things it needed!
I kept up with this smoothie through breastfeeding and pumping and even now that I am no longer lactating, I still love this smoothie. BMW and I make it every morning. Ok, actually, making the morning smoothies is something that got delegated to him after bébé’s arrival and now he still makes our smoothies!
I love starting my day off with this smoothie. It just gets everything off on the right foot. Then no matter what comes at me that day, I know that at least I had some nutrition and that makes me feel so much better.
Delicious Berry Smoothie
I actually love the taste of this smoothie. It’s got lots of blueberries and my favorite chocolate protein powder. The key to getting the consistency right is making sure that your blueberries and bananas are frozen. Then there is no need to add ice. This makes the smoothie extra thick, rich and creamy just like how shops and cafes make them!
We use these reusable smoothie straws that are dishwasher safe! You’ll definitely want a larger smoothie straw, versus a regular drinking straw, if you choose to use a straw for this smoothie.
If you want to make your smoothies ahead of time, place all the ingredients into mason jars except for the almond milk, and freeze them. Then run warm water around the jar to loosen then ingredients inside and slide them into the blender. Top with almond milk and blend! So easy!
