There’s lots to love about Austin, TX! When Ozarka Natural Spring Water reached out and asked me to share what I love most about Austin, TX I jumped at the chance! From the people, the outdoors and definitely the food there’s so much I love sharing with you all. But the one thing I love most is the people! I have so many wonderful friends here in Austin and here are all the things we like to do!
Ahh sunsets at The Long Center are seriously gorgeous! One of the unique things about this spot is that you can see sunrise and sunset across the downtown skyline. I love to get my early morning workouts here with Camp Gladiator, not to mention The Long Center hosts lots of events all year ’round like Trailer Food Tuesdays, Austin Symphony’s Concerts in the Park and of course the Texas Monthly BBQ Fest!
A leisurely day on strolling around South Congress Avenue with my girlfriends! We love to grab brunch at Cafe No Se at The South Congress Hotel. Then we wander through the antique shops and over to the “Before I Die Wall” located right behind Hey Cupcake! A place you can leave your mark on ATX. Then we go for sweet treats at Big Top Candy Shop! A sugary, sweet store that is filled with every candy you can imagine. They also have incredible milkshakes. Try the Wasabi Milkshake, an off-menu special you’ll have to ask for it by name, if you’re dying for something new!
Summer days can get pretty dang hot and there’s nothing like a dip in the icy waters of Barton Springs to get you cooled down! Pro-tip don’t bring any food, they don’t allow it, but there is a snack shop right outside. Go on a weekday so it is not as crowded and they also host Howl At The Moon swims whenever there is a full moon!
And it wouldn’t be summer in Austin without a mention of Blues On The Green! Almost like a mini- ACL, BOTG now has a VIP section, food vendors and bike parking. I still like to pack a picnic, grab a blanket and take my dog to meet up with friends and enjoy the tunes. Take a look at my picnic basket sponsored by Ozarka Natural Spring Water below for some local eats that are #FromHereForHere! Of course I have always loved to support local brands and below are some great Texas products to try this summer!
What do you love about Austin? Tell me in the comments!
What’s in my picnic basket:
Paqui Tortilla Chips– Based right here in Austin, TX it took me going all the way to Anaheim, California to discover them! I went to EXPO West this past March and discovered so many delicious, natural foods and Paqui was one of them!
Snow’s BBQ Sauce– Texas Monthly named this place the Best BBQ in Texas in 2008 and they’ve been trying to keep up with crowds ever since. I know BMW will be excited to try this out on some beef, pork or chicken next time we grill!
Yellowbird Sauce– This local sauce packs a serious punch! I’ve been obsessed with this hot sauce ever since I first discovered it years ago at Hillside Farmacy. It comes in three varietes Habanero, Serrano and Jalapeno so you can pick your poison.
The Jelly Queens– Three words for you Black Garlic Rosemary! And yes, that is the name of a jelly made by Austin and Dallas based company The Jelly Queens. I can’t wait to try this stuff!
Sweet & Spicy Mustard Seeds– Crafted with care by Taste Elevated, these little morsels burst a little sweet and heat in your mouth when you eat them. Perfect for a charcuterie or cheese plate and as a spread for sandwiches or burgers.
Queso from Cookwell & Company– You can’t get very far in Austin without diving into a bowl of queso! This company based in the heart of ATX has finally made a queso that is perfect for any picnic!
Ozarka Natural Spring Water– The summer heat in Texas can be brutal but Ozarka has been keeping me hydrated since I was just a babe! Seriously, do you remember those water coolers we all used to have? Now we have them at our offices and I love it because it taste perfectly refreshing with no funky stuff.
