You’ve seen the giant neon lotus on S. 1st. You’ve been wondering what is going inside that dark, luscious exterior. You’ve heard the buzz.
I popped into Sway this week with a girlfriend to catch up and check out the new digs in 78704.
It is a great atmosphere with community tables, so people are encouraged to chat it up with new people. Utensils and chopsticks are all centered on the table, so you have to ask your neighbor. There is also a great outside area, complete with lots of heaters, so don’t let the cold weather discourage you.
Sway only takes reservations for parties larger than eight, so come early or be prepared to wait. They serve beer, wine, saki and a bunch of fun non-alcoholic beverages like Kombucha. No liquor though.
Above is the Shu Mai. Crab and cuttlefish, it is delicious. Even though it looks a little like a sushi roll, it’s completely different.
Jungle Curry. I heard great things, so we had to try it. It is super spicy. The beef is a tad fatty, but adds a lot of flavor. Coconut cream is a nice touch.
XO mussels were also high on my list. A tad salty for my liking, but the other flavors in the sauce were nice. They are spicy as well.
We started off our dinner with Rosé and switched to beer and wine for our second round.
Sway is also open for lunch if you’re hoping for less crowds. I’ll be back soon to taste some more selections.
Who wants to come with me?!?

I want to go! 🙂 Were you still there last night when Rachael Ray ate there??
