I’ve been slowly getting all the photos from my recent trip to Florida ready for you. They were just so pretty and I wanted to make sure that they looked as good on here as they did in my mind. So whenever a picture doesn’t come out quite like I remember it, I will fret and analyze and try to tweak it into perfection. Luckily, the photos from Khong River House turned out, well, really pretty! During my trip to Miami we were able to sneak out of the hotel and off to a wonderful dinner at Khong River House. It is an Asian fusion restaurant that is owned by the same people who do Yardbird, which is high on my list for my next trip to Miami. Khong River has a gorgeous bar that produces gems of cocktails like these.
This is the Kha Chile, which was my drink of choice. Spicy but not overbearing with hints of basil and touch of sweetness. It was perfect for pairing with the heat of the Asian chiles. I mean let’s be honest, I could drink it all on it’s own!
I’d be remiss to not mention to the great service. They server was very attentive and even took extra care for one in our group who allergies. She knew exactly what dishes could be altered and which ones couldn’t, so it made everything go smoothly through our dinner.
The is a rustic feel in the decor, but it’s comfortable and casual as well. We arrived early so I was able to grab a few shots before it started to fill up. As the night went on the place got packed and they had a great soundtrack. Definitely somewhere I would go to start the night off before hitting the bars or going out. All the dishes are easy to share, so perfect for groups. I always take notice when the forks and knives are extra heavy and sturdy. I just love that, and they have them.
We started off the with Eggplant Fried Rice and Shisito Peppers. The eggplant didn’t become to soggy, which often happens and the squash mixed in had a slight crunch.
The Thai Beef Jerky was one of the dishes that was added since we had a shellfish allergy. And I was really glad they did! Slightly easier to eat than regular ol’ beef jerky, but the flavor was much, much better. Smoky and rich. I would definitely order it again.
The Green Curry Vietnamese Mussels were probably my favorite dish of the meal. Maybe it is because mussels and green curry are two of my most favorite things, but these were really good. Nice and tender and the broth was very flavorful without being too heavy or overpowering the mussels.
How about some whole fried shrimp? The Salt & Pepper Crispy Prawns were the star of the evening, mainly just for their presentation.
The Chinese Pork Fried Rice was another favorite of mine. I love the fried egg instead of a scrambled one. The pork bits had a nice crisp outside and tender on the inside.
If you are sharing with a group, the Yiliang Roasted Duck is perfect! It comes with all the condiments and everyone can share and build their own. There is plenty for everyone, and isn’t it just pretty to look at?
The Thai Doughnuts were a sweet end. Almost like a beignet, these are a crowd pleaser.
The Sweet Thai Sticky Rice and Mango was refreshing and something you definitely can’t get everywhere. I would say to try this one if you want something a little bit different, just simple and a nice ending to the meal. This is somewhere I would recommend for a friend looking for a dinner spot before a night out. The jams will have you ready to dance the night away.
Thanks Khong River House for the wonderful dinner. This meal was part of my media trip with VISIT FLORIDA.
