Happy Monday! I want to formally introduce you all to Meredith. She is a great friend and has made several guest appearances on the blog. Check out all the awesome things she’s been up to!
Hello Food Fetishers! My name is Meredith, and you may have seen my beautiful, humble smiling face in several of Natalie’s posts. Nat has been a busy lady jet-setting all over the USA, so I’m taking this opportunity to do a guest blog!
I’ve recently been put in charge of one of my company’s charity program, Help on Wheels. Help on Wheels is uShip’s cargo RV which we use to help out non-profits in the greater Austin area. Last week we helped Communities In Schools of Central Texas bring supplies out to the Circuit of the Americas track for their annual fundraiser, Food for Thought Luckily for me, the team at Communities in Schools gave us some tickets to Food for Thought as a token of their appreciation.

I didn’t even think of all of the wonderful food that I would be tasting at the event, but I texted Natalie after my first bite. I asked her if I could do a blog post to showcase all of the goodies!
Food for Thought featured 22 of Austin’s top restaurants and bakeries, from Congress in the heart of downtown, all the way to Hudson’s on the Bend out by Lake Travis. The food varied from tiny tacos to creative desserts. They were all great, and I definitely went back for seconds for several of them.
Some of my top picks were the tenderloin from Hudson’s on the Bend, the stone crab from Truluck’s, the short rib from Trace and the bisque from Congress.
And while the food tasted amazing, I was also impressed with the presentation of some of these bite-sized portions. While you cannot taste or smell them, I’ll let you drool now at my attempt to create some food porn.
Z Tejas’s tenderloin
The Driskill’s duck
Fireman’s 4 beer
Trace’s short rib
Malaga’s pork belly croquettes
Chez Zee’s crème brulee French toast
Congress’s bisque
El Alma’s taco
Hyatt Lost Pines’ s’more dessert
I was glad to have this opportunity to help out with a great cause and enjoy some fabulous food! I’m also impressed that I remembered all of these different dishes and where they were from! Go me!

I found out what the s’mores dessert is for all of those who are wondering…
It’s dark chocolate fudge cake, marshmallow fluff, graham cracker tuille w/ white chocolate and a shot of Bailey’s in the little round plastic thing stuck on the top.
