Last week marked the official start of spring! So I decided to get crackin’ on some Easter eggs a little early this year! The cracked shells make a really fun design on the eggs. Some people think they look like dinosaur eggs, I think they are just cool. Super simple and easy to do with kiddos or friends!
Start by boiling the eggs. Place eggs into a large pot of cool water. Make sure they completely submersed. Bring water to a boil. Then cover the pot and turn off the heat. Let sit for 8 minutes.
Add one tablespoon white vinegar to 3 cups of water. Choose your food coloring, I got super bright neon colors.
Add 10-12 drops of food coloring to the vinegar and water.
Stir it all around.
Make sure the eggs are cool before handling.
Gently tap the side of the egg onto the counter. Causing the eggshells to be cracked but still on the egg.
Dip the egg into the dyed water. The longer you let the eggs sit, the stronger the color will be. Let eggs sit in the dye in the fridge. Let it over night for super rich color.
After about three hours, the eggs looked like this. Gently peel the shell off.
And there you have it, super simple dip dyed eggs!
